For the past month, KJRH has partnered with Reasor's, the Indian Nations Council Boy Scouts and Tulsa Federal Credit Unions for the 2012 Food2Families Food Drive to benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
At all 17 Reasor's locations in the Tulsa and surrounding area, along with food collected by the Boy Scouts and at the four Tulsa Federal Credit Union locations, a total of 41,393 pounds of food, primarily from the prepackaged Reasor's bags of food shoppers could purchase has been collected over the four-week period.
The food collected during this important food drive will go directly to the 450 Food Bank Partner Programs, including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, low-income after-school programs and senior citizen centers. In turn, these programs collectively feed more than 70,000 people in eastern Oklahoma each week, the equivalent of nearly 1.1 million meals per month.
"This effort is so vital to the Food Bank. KJRH, Reasor's and their employees, have all band together to make this work- they have spread the word and work to make helping simpler for folks during a very busy season. On behalf of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, and all of our Partner Programs, we say a big thank you!!!," said Eileen Bradshaw, executive director of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
