Reasor's Donates More Than $24,000 to Komen Tulsa

Reasor's presented a check for $24,161.24 to the Tulsa Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® on Thursday, November 14. The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and, in honor of it, Reasor's proudly supported the cause by launching special, fund-raising activities throughout the month in which customers could get involved.

Fundraising efforts included 100% of the proceeds from our special pink reusable shopping bags as well as donation cards from Reasor's customers. Donation cards contributed to $17,281.24 of the dollars raised and $6,880 from the purchase of our reusable shopping bags.

This is the fourth year Reasor's has gone Pink for the Cause with special displays and other fundraising components to benefit Komen Tulsa. Not only did Pink for the Cause raise funds, it helped to raise awareness through the use of television PSAs dedicated solely to breast cancer facts and figures.

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

On the local level, the Komen Tulsa Affiliate works to reduce breast cancer in Tulsa County by funding education, screening and treatment programs with an emphasis on the medically underserved. Since 1997, they have granted over $5.4 million to fund scientific research, education and screening programs in our community.
