Buttermilk Biscuits

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Shortening
  • 3/4 cup Buttermilk

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Stir in buttermilk; knead dough gently.
  3. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness.
  4. Cut with a 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 450° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
