Seeded Cheese Rounds

These rounds really do melt in the mouth. They can be made ahead and reheated and are even good when not heated.
  • 1 cup Butter or Margarine
  • 4 cups (1 pound) Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon Cayenne, optional
  • Poppy and Sesame Seeds
  • Paprika

Add Ingredients to Shopping List

  1. Cream butter with mixer or food processor using steel blade.
  2. Blend in cheese, flour and cayenne, if used.
  3. Chill about 1 hour.
  4. Shape into 1-inch balls.
  5. Put some of each seed in small dishes Sprinkle 1/2 of the balls with sesame seeds and remaining 1/2 with poppy seeds.
  6. Place on ungreased baking sheet 1 l/2-inches apart.
  7. Chill 1 hour.
  8. If refrigerator space is limited, put balls all on 1 sheet.
  9. Move to other sheets to bake.
  10. Bake at 400°F about 10 minutes.
  11. Do not brown.
  12. The rounds will not be dry when done.
  13. Cool on baking sheets.
  14. Store in airtight containers in cool place.
  15. Reheat slightly to serve, if desired.
