Eat Right Feel Great: Gluten Free NutritionPosted on September 13th, 2017
It is time for the next series installment in our Eat Right Feel Great program! In September and October 2017, your Reasor’s Registered Dietitians are focusing on “Gluten Free Nutrition“.
What is Gluten?
Gluten is a protein found in certain grains such as wheat, rye, and barley. Some examples of why an individual might follow a gluten free diet are medical conditions such as gluten intolerance or celiac disease, and some individuals follow it out of personal preference.
Why is it Important?
Currently, the only treatment for gluten sensitivity and intolerance as with celiac disease is a strict gluten free diet. If left untreated, individuals can suffer severe symptoms and can be at risk for nutrition deficiencies, osteoporosis, cancer, neurological disorders, and development of autoimmune disorders.
How Can We Help?
While selecting gluten free options during grocery shopping can be a daunting task, Reasor’s is dedicated to making your grocery shopping easier. We offer a wide variety of gluten free products, and they can be found all throughout our stores readily identified by a gluten free shelf tag:
To further assist our gluten free community, Reasor’s Registered Dietitians have scheduled FREE “Shopping Healthy for Gluten Free Nutrition” store tours in eleven of our eighteen locations during this September and October. (Click here to register and see dates, times, and locations!) During these free tours, attendees will learn more about eating gluten free and locating gluten free products in the store and share experiences with other attendees.
As always, if you need more in-depth assistance with your diet and journey toward a healthy lifestyle to meet your specific needs, your Reasor’s Registered Dietitians are here to help! Reach out to us in the store or on Facebook at Reasor’s Healthy Living! We want to help you Bring Your Table to Life! (And don’t forget to check us out on Instagram at @reasorshealthyliving, too!)
