Grilled cheese, grown-up style

Turn a childhood favorite into a sophisticated staple by topping a simple beef filling with Swiss cheese.
  • 1 pound Certified Angus Beef® Ground Chuck
  • 1 cup Button Mushrooms, chopped
  • 1/2 Small Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Clove Garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 8 Slices White or Wheat Bread
  • 8 Slices Swiss Cheese (about 4 ounces)

  1. Brown ground chuck in medium frying pan with mushrooms, onion and garlic. Drain, remove from pan and wipe pan clean.
  2. Melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat in the same pan. Brown two slices of bread. Flip bread over and top each bread slice with one slice of Swiss cheese. Top one slice of bread with 1/2 to 1/3 cup hamburger mixture. Place second slice of toasted bread on top and flip sandwich over one more time to melt cheese.
  3. Keep prepared sandwiches warm in oven while cooking the others.
